Thanks to its large coast and the consistent Atlantic, Figueira da Foz has some of the best breaks and swells of the Iberian Peninsula. Figueira is a city located 40km from Coimbra, on the west coast of Portugal. The town lays at the mouth of the Mondego river, sheltered in the hills of Serra da Boa Viagem.
This beautiful city offers many activities and is one of the best locations to catch waves in Portugal. Figueira da Foz is home to the country’s largest sandy beach and the two well known surfing breaks Cabadelo, situated South of Figueira da Foz across the mouth of the River Mondego, and Buarcos.
A few kilometers inland lays the attractive and historic hillside town of Montemor-o-Velho. Much fought over by Europeans and Moors during the middle ages, the place is most notable for its ancient castle, which still has fragments of Roman stonework.
Figueira da Foz has a very friendly, family-oriented atmosphere. You will be able find beautiful beaches with excellent surfing conditions, many cafés, bars, restaurants and night life mixed with a rich history and culture; there is plenty to do for all age groups.
The Surf Camp
The camp is located in the north bay of Buarcos, Figueira da Foz, at the food of the mountain “Serra da Boa Viagem”. The beach house is located in 34.000 square meters of mountainous and forested private terrain, and has an incredible view over the waves of the Buarcos bay and the city of Figueira.
There are fourteen rooms which are on three different floors: a mixed dorm for four persons lodging in bunk beds, several double beds, and private suites for couples. The beach house has two kitchens for self use, private bathrooms, lounge area with TV and DVD-watching facilities, a barbecue area, space for board lodging, and a swimming pool with a panoramic ocean-view. The camp is led by Figueira’s best local surfers: Filipe and Pedro
Surf Lessons:
Classes are provided by FPS certified instructors, organized in small classes so that you get a personal learning experience. Filip is a surf instructor with a lot of experience and will help you to have memorable adventurous time.
The group will be divided according to previous surf experience: beginner and advanced. Our goal is to provide beginners with a high standard of professional instruction, led by an experienced and motivated team, good back-up facilities, quality equipment, and a plan which takes your attitude and surf level into consideration.
Beginner 
Five surf lessons (Monday to Friday) are included in the package. Each lesson is two hours and includes all equipment. Beginner lessons will begin with a 30 minute instruction on the beach, and after that: it is time to hit the waves! You will all paddle, while your instructor will be there to help and guide you the whole time. The instructor will focus on the basics of surfing and help you to gain better balance and timing.
Advanced 
The instructor will choose the spot with the right conditions for more advanced students. He will help improve your wave-judgment and surfing techniques while giving tips and showing new maneuvres.
Activities
Figueira da Foz offers much more than just surfing. With a great night life and lot of entertainment for all ages and budgets, Figueira is a holiday paradise. For a more cultural experience, there is the Dr. Santos Rocha Municipal Museum, containing a rich archaeological collection.
